All puppies are raised in our home, with access to fenced, outdoor areas. When puppies start walking, we begin to encourage them to potty in a designated area in order to facilitate house training when they go to their new homes. All of our dogs are expected to interact with other dogs, kids, and strangers on a regular basis. Our puppies receive neurological stimulation starting a few days after birth. They are handled numerous times a day and exposed to loud noises, the home environment, the dremel and when they are old enough, our other dogs and our children. As puppies get older, they may be started on crate training and house training just depending on age when you adopt your new puppy.
Do puppies come with a health guarantee?
Yes. Puppies come with a 2 year guarantee for genetic diseases. Our puppies receive a final vet check prior to going to their new homes and new owners must have the puppy examined by a licensed vet within 48 hours. If the vet determines the puppy is not fit for purchase then the buyer should notify us and have the vet write a statement before a replacement is made. The buyer must return the puppy to the breeder with transportation costs paid by the buyer and we reserve the right to have the puppy examined by our veterinarian prior to making a determination in replacing the puppy. In the event of death, a necropsy must be performed and we must receive a report from a licensed veterinarian. If the puppy is to be returned, all health records and AKC papers must be transferred back to us or the health guarantee is void. We guarantee that the new puppy enters the home healthy, without illness but it is up to the new owner to continue to protect the puppy from disease. Puppies should not be exposed to public areas such as parks until at least 2 weeks from their final vaccinations in the puppy series. Our puppies have age appropriate shots, dewormings, and fecal but it is up to the new owner to continue protecting the puppy. We cannot control what the puppy is exposed to in their new homes. New owners must continue age appropriate de worming, heart worm medication, vaccines (we do not vaccinate our dogs < 1 year for lepto), flea medication and vet checks. The buyer must feed the puppy a premium food. Poor nutrition can create many health issues so we will not health guarantee a puppy on a poor food. We feed Victor but there are numerous high quality brands- Royal Canine, Fromm to name a few. Our puppies are also on Nu-Vet. We cannot guarantee adult size and weight. We do our best to breed stable, friendly dogs to produce the same in the puppies. We spend a lot of time socializing the puppies to make sure they have every advantage while they are here. It is up to the new owners to continue socialization so we cannot guarantee temperament after puppies leave our home.
How do I reserve a puppy?
We require a $500 non-refundable deposit to hold a puppy. We do not take deposits in advance of litters, we want to make sure puppies are doing well and healthy before taking deposits. If something happens to the puppy and there are no other puppies available then we will refund the deposit. If we had a puppy on hold for you and you change your mind then the deposit will not be refunded.
Can my puppy be shipped to me?
Possibly. We prefer to meet new owners and can often meet in surrounding states at buyers expense. Shipping may be possible depending on location. We live in Louisiana, so temperature restrictions on air shipping may apply, especially in the summer months. Use weather.com to check temperatures within the hour of the scheduled flight. Generally, early morning flights are ok in this area. You must also check destination temperatures. If you have a preferred pet transporter, we can accommodate. Costs vary depending on location. Rough estimate on shipping within the continental U.S. is $350 (subject to change depending on current airline rates) which includes all expenses, including crate, water bottles, pads, leashes, etc. This is with American Airlines. Previously, AA has always been the lowest quote when we have shipped.
Do you offer breeding rights?
This is on an individual basis. Please discuss with us prior to placing a deposit. If there is no discussion, the puppies will automatically be registered with limited registration. We would like to get to know anyone inquiring about full registration and find out what your goals are prior to deciding on letting a puppy go on full registration. We would like a relationship established and would like individuals who want to improve the breed.
Do you require a contract?
Yes. All puppies sold as pets will be sold with limited AKC registration. All puppies sold for breeding/show purposes will be sold on contract- health testing will be one requirement and is non-negotiable. If you breed and do not health test, please do not contact us for a puppy with full registration. Please be prepared to communicate with us about the health and well being of your puppy. We need ongoing communication to evaluate the health of our lines. If for any reason you cannot keep your puppy, please contact us. We will always welcome our puppies back, we do NOT want our puppies going to the shelter or rescue- they always have a home available. In the event we must take a puppy back, a refund will NOT be issued.
